In the past years we stopped being a small company, now with a 150+ strong team we need to establish new structures that will allow us to manage the adoption of new tech and knowledge in more efficient ways. 

Thus, we committed ourselves to the journey of setting up an R&D department within TIAC and M&I.

This position requires candidates to rapidly absorb new knowledge and apply it effectively in their daily activities. Working alongside our R&D team, an associate will have the chance to acquire a diverse set of skills and best practices across various R&D tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to define research objectives and project goals
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data using qualitative analysis tools to create new knowledge or extract valuable insights
  • Reporting: Interpret research findings, share data analysis results, and provide data summaries for key stakeholders.
  • Assist in writing research reports, technical documentation, and research project proposals.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and analyze competitors’ products, technologies, and strategies to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for differentiation.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and designers, to provide research-driven recommendations for product development and improvement.
  • Knowledge Management: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in technology and industry trends, and share knowledge with team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Propose and develop innovative solutions to address complex technical challenges
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of research findings, data sources, methodologies, and other relevant information.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of working experience in project management or similar roles.
  • Solid understanding of research methodologies, data analysis techniques, and statistical tools.
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office tools, data visualization software, and productivity tools.
  • High level of curiosity, initiative, and a passion for continuous learning.

Growth Roadmap

In the first 90 days, you’ll be focused on:

  • Onboarding and introduction (for example, getting a full grasp of how our organization functions, where R&D falls in that organization, a full background of the R&D, its design and what are the main responsibilities, familiarization with deliverables and the output quality level).
  • Understanding the R&D strategy and priorities
  • Cooperation with other deparments – you will support and shadow the R&D team during cross-functional collaboration.
  • Skill acquisition – shadowing R&D senior members, and acquiring essential skills and knowledge for successfull day-to-day operations. You will participate in R&D meetings, brainstorming sessions, and planning sessions, and will be involved in all R&D work to gain a better understanding of how all the learned information is applied in hands-on work.
  • Contributions to work – the associate will start making meaningful contributions to ongoing R&D tasks and deliverables. You will be suggesting and sharing your conclusions all the way, providing input and reasoning. You will also be accepting of open and candid feedback that goes both ways and is striving for improvement and increased autonomy in work.

In the next 90 days,

The associate will have an increased level of autonomy and independance in carrying out assigned tasks.
You will demonstrate a deep understanding of R&D methodologies, strategic background, and high level of quality of your deliverables.
You will be able to propose/suggest and contribute to plans and strategic items for weekly/monthly priorities. 

  • Skill refinement – The focus will shift towards refining and honoring the skills acquired during the initial phase. You will be expected to proactively communicate and request feedback, guidance, and consultations to identify areas for improvement and also specify opportunitites for further skill development.
  • Project/initiative leadership – By the 180-day mark, the associate may have the opportunity to take on leadership roles within specific projects or initiatives. He/she will collaborate with team members to plan and execute project milestones, demonstrating their ability to drive results and deliver on objectives.

By the end of your first year as the R&D Associate, you will have achieved:

  • Mastery of the role: At this stage, the R&D Associate will have fully integrated into the team and mastered the core responsibilities of their role.
  • Professional growth: The focus will be on continued professional growth and devlopment. The associate may explore opportunities for specialization within specific areas of R&D, and pursue additional training for certifications.
  • Strategic contributions: By the end of 360-day periodm the associate will be actively involved in strategic decision-making processes within the R&D department. They will contribute valuable insights and expertise to help drive innovation, optimize processes, and achieve the company’s long-term goals.

Vladimir Mandic

R&D Director

Vladimir Mandić, Ph.D. is a software engineer and expert with extensive international experience. He completed his doctoral studies in Information Processing and Software Engineering in Finland and the USA. He is a member of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad.

Since 2004, he has been the co-founder of TIAC Group, a software development company.

He has applied his knowledge in strategy development, organizational processes, improvement of software processes, and HR to more than 50 commercial software development projects.

In 2014, he launched a department within the company, TIACLab – dedicated to experimentation, innovation, and improvement of methodologies and principles of working with technologies, processes, and products.

Arsen Milosev

R&D Manager

Arsen is an operations and project manager experienced in startup foundation building, building processes based on company strategic goals, and managing execution of business goals through cross-functional team collaboration all with a singular goal: To enable scalable growth.

Equipped with strong analytical and problem-solving skills ready to bring organizations to success.

He studied law, internal affairs, but decided to pursue career in IT, consulting and innovation.
